Recognition
  • a stout and robust biennial up to 3 m high, usually with a single hairy main stem.
  • its leaves a densely hairy, are 5-7 lobed, and upto 20 cm across, and with toothed margins.
  • its flowers are in terminal or axillary clusters of 2-10.
  • the petals are lilac or deep pink with purple or red veins and 15-20 mm long.
  • its fruit have 6-9 segments with angled edges.
