  • a perennial rush up to 120 cm high and forming dense tufts, with short rhizomes.
  • its stems are soft, bright- or yellow-green, and smooth.
  • its inflorescence is many-flowered.
  • its capsules are 2-3 mm long, yellowish-brown, and with obtuse or retuse apices.
