 Recognition
  • a robust, strongly rhizomatous, perennial grass up to 2 m tall.
  • its leaves rolled, up to 16 cm long, with a pungent tip.
  • its inflorescence up to 2 m long, flowers in a narrow, erect panicle up to 25 cm long, and the spikelets are hairy.
