 Description

Perennial aromatic herbs, sometimes woody at base. Lvs simple, toothed or entire. Fls in opposite, axillary, usually lax, pedunculate cymes; bracts mostly much < lvs. Calyx tubular, 13-nerved, ± 2-lipped; tube ± straight, hairy inside, not gibbous; upper lip 3-toothed; lower lip 2-toothed, > upper. Corolla 2-lipped; upper lip entire or emarginate; lower lip 3-lobed, with the middle lobe largest; tube straight, glabrous inside. Stamens included, curved and convergent. Style gynobasic, its branches unequal, the upper subulate, the lower longer and wider. Nutlets broadly ovoid to suborbicular.
