 Recognition
  • a deciduous, vigorous climber with forked tendrils at some nodes and stems and leaves covered with greyish-white hairs.
  • its leaves are broad (up to 17 cm across), have 3 to 5 lobes, and the margins are coarsely toothed.
  • its inflorescence is a panicle in the axils of the upper shoot leaves with fragrant, green flowers 1.5-2.5 mm long.
  • its fruit is a rounded berry, 0.5-2.3 cm across, black with some glaucous bloom.
